My 1st solo trip

Why travel ?

First of all, I believe it’s now or never ! For 7 years, I’ve been working in tourism and I’ve just finished my studies. I took the decision to quit my job because I want new challenges in my life and have a break away from my village where everyone knows everyone. I need to discover myself, get out of my comfort zone and get to know people who have different cultures so I can open up a little bit more. I’ve never actually experienced a solo trip nor a backpacking trip but I guess you need to start once, right ?

Why South America ?

In tourism, languages are very important. When I decided to quit my job, I said to myself : “Go and learn another language !” So I chose Spanish as it’s spoken in a lot of places and countries. Where ? Spain or South America ? After thinking and talking to different people I took my decision to leave for SA, Spain is to close to Switzerland 😉

Am I frightened ?

Yes I am but there’s something exciting about the unknown… As the date of the departure comes closer I’ll be scared to death and say : “Why on earth am I doing this ?” But I ‘m going to assume my decision and I’m 100% sure I’ll have the time of my life. My flights are booked and paid so I won’t be turning back. I’m really looking forward to be meeting new people. Leaving my family, friends and my comfy life is surely going to be a huge change but I need this to happen in my life. The language is also a big issue for me… I never learned Spanish at school but I am taking some lessons and practicing on the app called “Babel” so that I can be a little more comfortable when I arrive.
